I have always believed that beautiful hair comes in all lengths. Hair beauty is actually determined by hair health, not length. Make it your goal to have healthy hair regardless of length, and then, if hair length is your goal, your hair will grow.
With that being said, here are some tips for healthy hair:
1. No matter what length of hair you have, keep your hair well moisturized by using moisturizing hair care products. Hair contains water naturally, but black and african hair actually has a lower water content than the hair of other ethnicities. That it why it is often dry, and that is why it must be moisturized often to stay healthy.
2. Have the ends of your hair trimmed every so often. The end is the oldest, and usually most fragile part of a strand of hair. Trimming every so often removes split ends and contributes to a healthier looking head of hair. You can either do this yourself, or have a professional do it for you. If you do it yourself, be sure to use salon or barber quality hair scissors.
3. Let your scalp breathe. If you are wearing wigs or hats, take them off frequently, even if it is in the privacy of your own home, and let your scalp breathe. While you are letting your scalp breathe, give yourself a scalp massage. Put a little hair oil on your scalp and use your fingertips to gently massage your scalp for a few minutes each day. This encourages blood flow to the scalp which in turn encourages hair growth.
