Six African Americans who were part of a group of 25 winners of The MacArthur Fellowship Program Awards. The MacArthur Fellows Program and the $500, 000 award given to each winner ( with no strings attached ) is intended to encourage people of outstanding talent to pursue their own creative, intellectual, and professional inclinations.
