The Name Kwanzaa Derived From The Kiswhili Phrase, Matunda Ya Kwanzaa, Which Means First Fruits And Is Used To Refer Harvest Celebrations In Africa.
Kwanzaa Lasts For Seven Days. Each Day Is Designed Around Nguzo Saba, Or Seven Principles, Based On African Values.
They Are:
Umoja: Unity
Kujichagulia: Self-Determination
Ujima: Collective Work And Responsibilty
Ujamaa: Cooperative Economics
Nia: Purpose
Kuumba: Creativity
Imani: Faith
