Located in Denver, Colorado in the home of  Dr. Justia Ford, the first African American doctor in Denver, the Black American West Museum is dedicated to the brave, strong and resilient African Americans who helped settle the western frontier.
 
Founded by Paul Stewart in 1971, you can learn an incredible amount of information about the Buffalo Soldiers, the Black Pioneer town of Dearfield, Colorado, Herbert Jefferies: The Black Singing Cowboy, Bill Pickett, Deadwood Dick and more!
