Truman Signed Executive Order, 9808, To
Establish The First Committee On Civil Rights.
The Commitee's Job Was To Examine Law
Enforcement Agencies And Government
Systems To Determine How Their Means Of
Safeguarding The Civil Rights Of Americans
Could Be Improved And Stengthened.
Committee Members Included Channing H.
Tobias And Attorney, Sadie Tanner Mossell
Alexander.
The Committee Published A Report Titled "To
Secure These Rights" And Noted That American Democracy Suffered From A "Moral Dry Rot. Lawmakers Paid Little Attention ToTheFindings.
