Mary Church Terrell:

On June 8, 1953, The Refusal To Serve African Americans In Washington, DC Resturants Was Unanimously Outlawed By The U.S. Supreme Court.

The Court Upheld An 1873 Law That Prohibited Owners Of Eating Esrablishments From Refusing Service Because Of A Person's Race Or Color.

Long-Time Civil Rights Activist, Mary Church Terrell, Then In Her Late 80's, Filed The Complaint, Called The "Thompson Resturant Case," And Was One Of The Key Plaintiffs In The Suit.

The Case Began In 1950 When The John R. Thompson Resturant Refused To Serve Three Black Customers.
