  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. None of them worked, and that’s saying a lot because I’m really good at fighting racism. But at the end of the day – every day – she was my boss, I had to deal with her, and that was that. Finally I...

BLACK AMERICA - LIFT UP YOUR EYES, SPIRIT AND MORALE

"I don't agree at all with you Enoch and since we really don't have any representation in the media we only have the old traditional use of drums. On of today's form of the drum is FB."

Bill Green

Right now, right here and in real time we have black representation in the media.

We have Mighty Peoples Network, Black Business Builders, Black Author Showcase, Black Business Space, The Black list Pub, Mubarak Inter-prizes, Afrocreations, Chicago Black Business Network, Black Home Schoolers, Izania, Lee Green, Natalie Ramsey, Enoch Mubarak, Delores Chamblin, karen Glover, Jim Neusom, Ted Hardge, Roger Madison and Sonja Perdue just to name a few.

Everyday we have black people representing on facebook, Izania, Mighty Peoples Network, Black Author Showcase, Chicago Black Business Network, The Black list Pub, or Black Business Space but does anyone other than Enoch Mubarak ever write, quote or disseminate to other black people what they are doing, thinking or saying about us?....

No, and why is that?

It is because it is all on where you place your values as to whom you rely upon to validate your presence, involvement and representation and thus far black people for the most part rely on what white people think and say about us to represent our participation, inclusion, contribution and worth to society.

Did you know that a brother named Phillip V. Smith operates out of a beauty salon in Chicago, Illinois and is one of the only few black men actively representing the domestic black haircare industry by advancing the frontline with every client he works on?

He had a birthday whereas on facebook the birthday wishes he received took up about a month of pages from black people that does know that he is out here representing but no one blogs about it nor mentions it.

DEAR BLACK AMERICA 2011 AND BEYOND
We have black people and black companies, organizations and networks representing in real time right here that are making blog worthy moves and news everyday.

Stop watching and listening to white America. Lift up your eyes, spirit and morale Black America and look where you are standing.

Sincerely, Enoch Mubarak
